Dear Readers,

If you send me a note saying 'please reply,' it would be nice if you enabled messages on your end so that I can reply. -__-;;

That said, since the subject has come up a couple of times recently, I'll just make this announcement public.

I have no issue with people saving my stories to their personal computers to read in case of internet outages / travel / LJ having a brain fart / etc. I expect it. After all, what if LJ goes down some day and I'm too lazy to put them back up again somewhere else?

I myself have saved any number of stories from years ago, none of which I can find anywhere on the net in the present day. :( Sadness, cause I'd love to see what those long-ago beloved authors are doing now. (I did track down one, actually. *luvs on [livejournal.com profile] neemeister*)

I will take offense if any of my Lulu books are shared around or made public or whathaveyou. I chanced across a site one day where someone was asking for a copy of Dragon Isles, and was most irked. All but one of the stories in that book are available for free here on LJ. If you want the last story so badly, then spend the couple of bucks to get it. :P

That said, would anyone like to be my writing buddy? I seem to work best when I can 'trade' snippits of story with someone else, thus motivating the both of us to work harder in order to get the rest of it. :)

Love,
An AWOL Author

I'd love a writing buddy - but man is my stuff rusty.

Grrrr - the nerve of some people. If you really loved an author you'd support them any way possible. Just my 2 cents.

*sigh* Some people just deserve being beaten with a big stick!

I'd love to be your writing buddy for this week, at least. I have a Halloween ficlet to write. ^_~

Of course, I'll do that after finishing the trimming on Ignis' overcoat. I should have that done tomorrow. *eyes the half-sewn metallic trimming and the annoying metal thread it requires*

Mmm, Halloween. I'm kind of 'meh' this year. Some day I'd like to get costumes made for the boys, but first I have to learn to sew. Mikey's not good for much sewing lately. :/

I still can't sew straight on the sewing machine, so all the sewing I do is by hand, unless I can persuade my mother to cooperate. But I'd rather not appeal to her kindness too often.

*hugs your boys and thinks they should wear each others' clothes this Halloween*

Aw man! I'd love to be your writing buddy but my senior thesis is sucking up all of my writing energy right now. All I would have to trade with you is boring academic stuff.

I dunno about the whole snippit for snippit "trade". I don't really have anything commanding me into action, other then GH and T:U. I write funny anyway lol. I think I might have one or two stories, but they're probably no where near uhh...readable(?) at the moment.

If you're ever looking for an RP buddy though, I'm your man ^_^ . I've been in need of someone to RP with for many moons.

I got to much free time I think.... *sighs*

Tsh. I love Role Playing I'll gladly be your buddy if possible gabrielsknife. Just send me a private message if your interested ^^

To tygati... eeep! I would love to trade but am afraid my writing probably sucks. I can role play and convert that into a story, but damn if I suck at flat out writing a story though... But if your willing to still trade I wouldnt mind trying to practice on improving my horrid writing skills with you! ^^

I am so very RP rusty. *laugh* Been getting back into it a tad, though not nearly as much as I used to. Lack of time, I suspect. :/

(What genres do you RP, out of curiosity?)

Well, I can go for a lot lol. Fantasy (either pure, D&D-esque, modern or "comic-book-esque"), semi-historical (pirates, native americans, oriental), and sci-fi (mostly my universe, but if I know the setting, I might be able to get into it ^_^ .)

I've been wanting to get back into RP. I've got one friend who I rp with, but not on a regular basis.

What about you? Do you have any specific genres?

I am pretty much a fantasy gal through and through. *laugh* I like magic. Even when I'm writing sci-fi, there is usually magic involved. ^^;; I can't help it. It's sparkly.

In the past, I've oftentimes made up entire fictional worlds with my RP partner, which can be both good and bad. Sometimes the world-building overshadows the actual story, y'know? >.>;;

Lol; I like to have psychic stuff in my sci-fi stories in place of "pure/real" magic. But I've seen quite a few good sci-fi stories that implement magic as well.

If I can, I like to use my own settings b/c the rps help me expand them. But, if my rp partner wants, I don't mind making up new settings or having them use their own ^_^ .

You're right, the story itself can blow right past the world building ^_^ .

Sooo... by 'trading snippets' do you mean beta-ing for each other or just bribing each other to keep writing ('I'll send you the next bit of x if you send me the next bit of y')? Because I need a kick in the pants to get writing again, but I generally prefer to beta my own stuff, unless I get caught on something, because I do a lot of re-writing in the editing phase. Not that my stuff is long as a general rule, but I do currently have a lot of half-finished things that are doubtless feeling very abandoned, so there would be a reasonably constant flow. And I guess having someone else read the 'old' bit and then the 'new' bit fairly soon after would mean an extra brain checking that it keeps the same tone and flows okay.

In short: I'm willing to give it a shot, if you are. :)

Gods no, no betaing. It sort of spoils the story, y'know, if you have to sit there and go through it with a fine-tooth comb as you read. Learned that the hard way.

I totally mean the bribery version. "Neener neener there's kisses in the next scene but you don't get it until you cough up the next part!" sort of thing. ;)

*would offer self, but figures there are already plenty to choose from*

Ick! I hate winter depression. *hughughugs* Long hours at work probably did not help it get better.

I hope things have improved since last week. *more hugs*

I've got a light visor that helps regulate my sleep and keep SAD away. I heartily recommend such products; depression is nothing to mess with. ♥

Phew. That's good. Cause I have a a folder with your name on it in my original story section. And yes it contains a bought version of your Dragon Isles. I actually went and got a debit card soley for the purpose of being able to read that story. I'm not kidding either.
