So for Mikey's birthday dinner, I made Hamburger Pie. It tasted good. I did not set the house on fire. I consider this a victory. ^____^

From the sound of things, postcards are beginning to arrive at their destinations. Cobecat got hers first (unsurprising, since she only lives 2 hours from me) but I was rather surprised that the next one to arrive was Texas. o.O; Huh. But hearing the reactions is lots of fun. ^____^ Especially the "thank goodness you put them in envelopes" reactions. *snicker* Oh, and yes, the bonus postcard is intentional. :) Gotta have something to trade with, ne? ^.~

One of the cool things I've gotten in the mail lately is these utterly adorable little bead creatures from [livejournal.com profile] rappleart3. There's a fox (I'd name him Vinni, but Vinni's gold), a frog (Ribbit or Prince, hmm...), a skunk (One of my favorite childhood plushies was a skunk - now I'm having notions of slashing an anthro-skunk every time I look at it), a damselfly (not a dragonfly, as I kept calling it), a dragon that she designed herself just for me (*_*), and Naefindan in mer-form! ^_____^

And I took a different picture earlier, of some of my favorite necklaces. Rappleart was helping out her aunt making necklaces for ball-jointed dolls and we were talking about the pretty things. ^_^ It's kinda funny, the BJD craze has mostly bypassed me, but there are some really pretty ones out there, including this elf one that just makes me drool. *___* Elfie ears... I just have to remind myself that no way in hell can I afford that. x.x Meh.

So...are there princeflies to protect the damselflies from the dragonflies?

Awesome pretties, by the way. *eyes her bead collection*

I don't do *that* kind of beading. I do the 2-d square-stitch 'beaded tapestries' type. If that's a type at all...

Plus I haven't done it for a while, and my thumb still objects slightly to me starting up again...

maybe I should check out making critters. I'm sure it'd be much less ultimately painful.

Have you seen stuff from a bead-loom? it's like that, only I do picture-stuff. My icon/avatar/picture-thing is actually an old pattern I used. But they take hundreds and thousands of beads, and the technique I use has me sewing through each bead three times... which is why my thumb hates me. (hated, really, it's been better since I stopped)

o.o Wow. I've never seen something like that before, but it sounds massively impressive. ^^; Your poor thumb. *pets it*

Rappleart makes bead-animals sound really easy, especially in comparison. ^^;;;

Oh, I've seen patterns for bead critters. They are more difficult in technique, but you don't need quite as much patience for it...

And there are easier ways to make the stuff I make (bead loom, anyone?), but I've never been all that keen on easier...

I bead. Occasionally. When I feel like it. I have a beaded lizard I made a long time ago...this makes me want to go dig out all my beading things...

*snicker* The only thing I ever set on fire was the corner of a towel. And mom wasn't even mad! Also, I got my postcards. THANK YOU!! <333

Not setting the house on fire is a victory indeed! The second day at my new apartment, the stove caught fire.

...

Though in my defense, it was not my fault.

Aww, beady animals are cute! ^^; I like the skunk the best. The Naefindan reminds me of bead people that I used to make, though I never managed a mermai--man.

Mmph. The people before me were very Chinese and very messy, and they left a lot of oil everywhere. Including on and all around the stove. Where there is fire.

Needless to say, the thing got a rather exuberant scrubbing down later that day.

Seriously, follow the philosophy of 'if it makes you happy,' because You'll never BE happy if you don't go after the things you want. Sure, you'll have to save up for him, but honestly, He'll be one of your best buds. I know, he's just a hunk of resin, but you end up putting your soul into them. What can I say? Our mailwoman is Superwoman in disguise. She hefted the boxes I moved from CA to TX up the driveway and piled them on the front porch before ringing the doorbell. Some of those boxes made my 6' roommate cringe. So obviously she has super!speed to go with the mighty!strength. *nods*

Both, some outfits I make some I buy, Takumi is actually my friend down the street's BJD, we ordered the pair together so we call them "the twins". The Count outfit Takumi is wearing is bought. Razidae's outfit in the picture is bought, but I can easily make it too, but I was lazy and the seller of the outfit was selling it decently cheap because she made it for her own dolls and made an extra XD But Razidae's outfits generally are 1/2 made 1/2 bought. I make his kimonos, yukata's, and shorts and sweat pants and such. I buy his shoes and leather pants etc because god knows I can't make those >.> lol~ They like to be well dressed @.@
