Vinni was a high priority. The highest one he had. And Vinni wasn't like the rest of the crew. Vinni wasn't human.
It meant a lot of things, fire child, but he'd completely missed the best one, the most important one, until Kormiel retired.
Vinni wasn't aging. Or if he was, it was happening too slowly for Ruadh to see. Vinni would, most likely, live as long as a dragon. Maybe longer. Ruadh didn't know.
He thought about asking, but changed his mind. He didn't really want to know. He would cherish every moment he had with his surly fox, whether that was a handful of years or centuries.
His Vinnissaen. His fire child. His perfect, priceless treasure.
