Because I was poking around in my stories folder going "What is this... oh yeaahhh..." ^^ I give to you: WIP Day! ^.^ Some are horrid ancient and will never be finished. Others are collecting dust while I attempt to have their muses' travel visas revoked. -__- Stupid muses.

The Emperor's New Clothes

If one were to consider things fairly, then it would be unanimously agreed that the trouble all began with the late Queen. As was quite normal amongst those of noble state, his Exaulted Eminence, the Emperor Pleisies Magnavon Trebislirn III had married based solely upon the artistic merit of his wife. That is to say, she matched the drapes.

Her gracious Majesty, the Lady Ephileenia Ton Veringtonithis, had not been a particularly stunning beauty, though neither was she overly drab. However, as she was well aware that she had been selected for her appearance alone, she became quite vain in time, always wearing the newest, most fashionable gowns in all the lands.

Thus it was that when His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was growing up, he developed a rather... distorted... set of priorities.

This is his story. And mine.

The Emperor's New Clothes

It was a pleasant day in the city, with the sun shining brightly and just enough of a breeze blowing to keep things from getting too hot, though not enough to prevent the smells of the beasts of burdeon from wafting beneath the traveller's nose. The man grimaced and threaded his way through a group of labourours in an attempt to get upwind, regretting it almost immediately as the stench of their unwashed bodies threatened to overwhelm him.

He was saved by the rather timely intervention of a loud and rather painfully off-key horn, at which point the various persons on the street all moved with considerable haste toward some common goal. It was rather a fascinating thing to watch, and eventually the traveller found himself growing curious.

What could possibly be so interesting that the entire town simply dropped what they were doing and went en masse to go see?

His footsteps carried him to what appeared to be a procession of guards wearing the most hideously gaudy excuse for royal livery he had ever seen, bar none. It was almost painful to look at, and yet still the townsfolk stared so hard that he wondered if any of them even remembered to blink.

Frowning, the traveller touched the arm of the nearest person.

"Pardon me," he inquired smoothly, "But I am a stranger to this land. What is it that everyone is looking at?"

The woman, most likely a washerwoman judging from her clothing, spared him only a brief glance before once more craning her neck in an attempt to see over the heads of the others.

"The Emperor of course," she answered absently, most of her attention quite firmly taken. "Every time he gets a new suit, he rides through town so that everyone can see it."

Now, to the well-journeyed traveller, this hardly seemed a good reason for an entire city to cease functioning for several hours while some arrogant and self-absorbed noble went sauntereing through town. He was about to say as much to the washerwoman when the crowd around them began to murmur and point. Despite himself, the traveller found his gaze following that of the others.

And he promptly forgot how to breathe.

To say that the Emperor was handsome would be like saying a hurricane brought a little rain.

Superheroes

It was raining, Ten noticed, glancing out the window. It seemed like it was always raining these days. Probably an emerging weather power or something similar; the thought made him cringe. A new Super would inevitably bring renewed fire to the arguments that seemed to be all anyone was doing these days. Even the grand council of the League of Heroes itself was given lately to bitching and arguing, when they of all people should be presenting a united front.

It frustrated Ten to no end, but there wasn't really much he could do about it. As the youngest and newest Super on the council, his voice didn't carry much weight.

Ghost Story

It was almost a sure bet that the moment you decided that your life couldn't possibly get any worse, it would. Keith had been trudging down Sherman Avenue, trying to figure out what he could possibly do now that his crusty old landlord had finally thrown him out, when he formed the thought. Not twenty seconds later the world decided to show him the fallacy of his thinking - it rained. And not just any rain, but a sudden, fierce downpour that left him no time at all to duck under an eave. Not that there were any nearby.

There was, however, a door, and Keith yanked it open and ducked inside after only the most cursory of glances to confirm that it belonged to a shop and not someone's home.

Inside, however, was like no shop he'd ever set foot in before. There was... stuff everywhere. He could think of no other description for the furniture, trinkets, paintings, books, and, well, stuff that lay scattered about in no discernable order whatsoever. Everything looked old, very old, but there was no musty smell like one might expect. Instead, a peculiar sweet odor permeated everything, though Keith couldn't tell from whence it came.

He stood still for a moment, staring, then cautiously moved further into the shop to get a better look. One glance at the faded, handwritten price tag tied to a chair convinced him not to touch anything, but there was still no harm in looking, right? It felt like he'd stepped into another world.

He was peering curiously at an elaborately-decorated box sitting on a wood and glass table when the comfortable silence was abruptly broken.

"May I help you with anything?"

Keith yelped and jumped, managing not to knock anything over by sheer luck. He spun toward the voice, heart in his throat, and blinked to find a wizened old man who made his wares almost look new in comparison.

"Um," he squeaked. "I, um, just..." Keith gestured helplessly toward the thick wooden door and the rain outside that could no longer be seen. "It..."

The old man peered closely at him, then snorted and shook his head. "Ah. Just a stray."

Rock The Cradle

"Your highness."

Ruari looked up from the book he'd been perusing, blinking at the servant waiting patiently. "Yes?"

The man bowed. "His Majesty would like you to meet him in the green parlor, highness."

Nodding in acknowledgement, Ruari waited until he'd left before making a face and setting down his book. Practically everything in Laidir was taking some getting used to, most especially the way he was treated. Apparently becoming Kian's consort gave him the title of Prince Consort, and that prince part these people took seriously.

It was... strange. His father was a king, but he'd never been a prince. Now he was a prince of Laidir - though not of Cadhain. Cadhain, and Ruari's father, had yet to learn of Kian and Quinlan's deception. He wondered and dreaded what would happen when they found out.

Leaving the library, Ruari made his way through the wide palace hallways, trying not to blush too profusely as everyone he passed made little gestures of respect, some even going so far as to bow or curtsey. He was no one. He didn't deserve... all this.

There was a single guard outside the green parlor, who bowed and opened the door for him. Inside he found Kian, fortunately alone.

"Ruari." Arms wrapped around him, Kian pulling him close with the same blatant disregard for personal space that he'd always shown. Ruari still complained on occasion (It really was a bad habit) but he didn't mind it quite so much anymore. The fact that Kian could barely keep his hands to himself around Ruari was such a powerful contrast to the life he'd led that sometimes - only to himself - he could admit it made him feel nice. Wanted.

"Sire," Ruari acknowledged, forestalling a kiss as Kian grimaced instead.

"I know I deserve it, but how long are you going to stay mad at me?" he asked.

Ruari arched a brow, though he made no move to leave the circle of Kian's arms. "How long do you think I'm going to stay mad?" he shot back.

Kian winced, breathing a quiet sigh. "Yes, I rather suspected..." he murmured in resignation, leaning down to take a kiss that Ruari met without hesitation. Just because he was holding a grudge didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the situation in the meantime.

Of course, that did not mean Kian could unlace his pants while he was distracted.

"Ow." Kian rubbed at his arm where Ruari had punched him.

"We're in the parlor," Ruari pointed out dryly.

Kian grinned. "And the guard has strict instructions not to let anyone in. Not even Quin." He yanked Ruari back into his arms, one hand already sliding down the back of Ruari's pants to cup his ass even as he bent his head to steal another kiss.

Ruari's scathing reply was lost to the heat of that mouth, the skill of that tongue, and the far-too-knowing hands that caressed him.

Nae & Torhle not-quite-smut

The best thing about the south, Torhle had decided, was the water. The people were all more than a little strange, the clothing was worse even if he was slowly coming to appreciate the 'easy access' attribute, but the water was just perfect. Not too cold, but not too warm either, and so clear that he could see all the way to the bottom if he looked.

Not that he looked all that often, having much better things to look at than the sea floor. For instance, right now. The island they were anchored off of was full of little coves and inlets where the waves of the open sea couldn't quite penetrate. This particular cove was fairly shallow, shaded in areas by overhanging vegetation, and possessed a jumble of large rocks at one end that provided considerable amusement in the form of hiding amongst and jumping off of.

Also, those rocks were quite nice for trapping a certain mischievous blond and keeping him from escaping while he was kissed senseless. Not that he'd tried very hard to escape once Torhle had him pinned.

"So, are you going to tell me why we've been anchored all day when we should be on our way to Ardassus?" Torhle asked dryly, shivering as the sleek scales of Nae's tail fin slid up along one leg.

Naefindan grinned, bluegreen eyes widening in mock innocence. "I wanted to go swimming?"

Torhle snorted. "You always want to go swimming. Try again."

The demented grin widened as webbed hands slid up Torhle's chest and across his shoulders before twining around his neck. "I may have had an alternative motivation..." he admitted cheerfully.

Torhle rolled his eyes. "This alternative motivation wouldn't happen to have anything to do with the infuriated bellow I heard not long ago that sounded suspiciously like Lanthus, would it?"

"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about," Nae replied, eyes bright and shoulders shaking ever so gently with suppressed laughter.

"Mmm hmm," Torhle said fondly. "How long are we going to have to stay out here before he calms down?"

"There are blankets on the beach along with dinner, breakfast, and possibly lunch," Nae told him as solemnly as he could manage before collapsing into helpless laughter. Torhle merely rolled his eyes and waited until his mischievous lover had more or less composed himself.

"You really do need a better hobby than pissing off Lanthus," he observed.

Naefindan grinned. "Pissing off Lan is my second favorite hobby, and usually provides me plenty of time to indulge in my first favorite." He leaned in close enough that Torhle could feel his breath, smelling faintly of the sea,

Urian/Jirae not-smut

Urian Parani had two things he loved above all else. One was books, in whatever format he could get them, though he had a soft spot for the antique wood pulp kind now obsolete throughout the majority of Infintium Government worlds. It was the love of books that had led him to the position of Head Librarian in the Palace of Eternity on Zero. A position of considerable prestige and respect, though his parents had always viewed it as a disappointment.

It had used to hurt, that disdain, but it didn't anymore. Not since the day he'd found out that the other thing he loved more than anything loved him back just as much - his younger brother Jirae.

Jirae, who also had a fondness for Urian's books, in that his favorite place to pounce Urian was in his personal library, shoving him up against a bookcase and kissing him senseless. Sometimes he had his clothes on, but usually not. As he'd once pointed out, Urian never had guests in his suite so there was no reason he had to be decent.

Plus, it was less to take off.

So really, it wasn't at all a surprise that Urian had gotten home from his shift at the library and barely had time to set his cider down before getting pounced by a naked brother. He'd made two attempts at speaking before giving up, content to let Jirae explore his mouth, and to do a little exploring of his own. The skin and fur beneath his hands were both silken soft, though underlying he could feel the sleek muscles that set Jirae apart from other, less active scientists. Urian loved to touch him, all of him, from ears to tail and back.

Sometimes it still didn't seem real, that he was only dreaming what he and Jirae did, but even in his guiltiest dreams he didn't think he'd have thought up the tail incident. That was all Jirae.

Who was purring rather blissfully, wrapped around Urian as tight as he could while attempting to suck Urian's tongue right out of his mouth, tail flicking idly against one of Urian's legs.

And there was an unmistakable hardness pressing against his own.

Urian shifted his hands down to get a firm grip on Jirae's ass, drawing a soft moan from Jirae, then he braced himself and switched their positions so that Jirae was the one shoved up against the bookcase and Urian was the one pinning him to it.

Jirae's purrs intensified.

They cut off with a startled moan as Urian's fingers slid beneath his tail, stroking his slickened hole. Apparently he'd prepared himself before Urian got home.

Urian chuckled. "Impatient, much?" he asked.

Golden-brown eyes attempted to focus on him. "Making up for lost time," Jirae retorted, then kissed him again. The kiss only lasted a moment before Jirae gasped into his mouth as Urian slid a finger up inside him.

"Urian," he pleaded, panting.

*flying tackle hearts* I loves! ^_____^

1) I'm totally curious about the Superhero one and the idea that it's the oldsters that control the council and how things are done.

2) *_____* So want more about Keith. *snugs him* Pretty stray. So would love to know where that one's going.

3) Wheee!!! Smut! *tackle hearts* ^_________________^ I love your writing so.

The Superhero one is awkward because I know how it begins, how it ends, and a vague idea of what has to happen in the middle... and that's it. x.x Plus, it's sort of a... mmm... overused device? >.>; Something like that. Blah.

Keith will probably maybe never get finished. I was trying something, it backfired, I lost all motivation for it. :/

Emperor's New Clothes - Oh, the prologue is brilliant as is the little bit of story!! I hope this one decides to get done.^_^

Superheroes - definitely some potential here. There is strife! And a young hero with a Cassandra complex. Nice. ^_^

Ghost Story - Poor Keith. This store seems very interesting; I just bet it will somehow start Keith off on a grand and possible scary adventure. ^_^ Loved this line, among others: blinked to find a wizened old man who made his wares almost look new in comparison.

Rock the Cradle - Eieeeeeeeee!!! I love these two!!! I saw the extra verse in a nursery rhyme book recently and thought of this story. I'd never heard it before, you know. Thanks for broadening my horizons. ^____^ More, please. *grins* *and waits*

Nae and Torhle - ^_^ Is this the in-the-water Merman sex scene that is giving you troubles? You can do it!!! *grins* Silly Nae.

Urian & Jirae - Kitties!!!! I remember this.^_^ I love how you got only that far and no further. I can just about see your face as you save and walk away. ^________^ *loves*

Yay, WiPs!!! *glomps* Thanks for sharing, sweets!

Emperor was written before Beauty and the Beast, so over two years ago... probably will never get finished. :/

Superheroes I'd like to finish, but I have some plot things to work out first. *shrug* Plus, it's another long one. *sigh*

Ghost Story... I sorta lost my motivation for. >.> I think I had full notes for that one too. Ahwell.

Rock the Cradle I totally wanna write. It should be fun. I just have to find time/energy to do it. x.x (and yay you, seeing my verses. Hee. I should find the MP3 I made of that song so you know where I first heard it...)

Nae & Torhle, yes, merman sex. x.x My muses ran off to Bermuda.

Urian & Jirae was for animal day, I think, and I was so pissed that it just... stopped... right there. *grr*
