The problem with not watching much in the way of television is that a somewhat sheltered little small-town American girl has no idea how to properly write an accent. Heck, she only has a vague idea of what they even sound like. x.x;

So, if you're trying to write a fellow with a thick Irish accent, progress kind of grinds to a screeching halt when the man opens his mouth. *sigh*

Anyone know what the Irish equivalent of 'damn' or 'bollocks' would be?

Since I'd been meaning to do it for a while, and [livejournal.com profile] sunemai ventured that it couldn't possibly be as bad as I think it is, I scanned a page out of my writing notebook so that y'all could see what my handwriting looks like when I'm writing for myself and not trying to be very careful so the postman can make out the letters. ^^;

Incidentally, it's also the very first page of Goblin's story.

So, verdict? Personally, I think it's not as bad as my grandmother's, but I did have one teacher in high school ask me to please print all my essays as she couldn't read my cursive... >.>;
