Starring Trill the fairykitty and Rudan the goblin-thingie. ;)
Hope everybody had a good turkey day with lots of yummy food and stuff.
---
Trill eyed the oven warily, wings fluttering absently behind him and sending sparkles everywhere. "Are you sure this is... safe?"
Rudan looked up from where he was squishing potatoes into mush and grinned. "Sure it is. Tru's a better cook than anybody I know."
"Yeah, but..." Trill eyed the oven again. "She's still a witch."
Rudan blinked. "Yes..."
"So, how safe is it to let her cook us food in the same pots that she uses for her poisons and curses and stuff?" Trill queried.
Rudan considered for a moment, still squishing away. "Well, she does wash them..."
"But magic's sticky," Trill pointed out. "Just washing them with water won't make the magic go away..."
They regarded one another thoughtfully for a long moment, then peered in unison at the oven where a large bird of some sort was cooking alongside a bowl of as-yet-unidentified vegetables. After a moment, Rudan gave a cheerful shrug.
"Well, what's the worst that could happen? You could end up a cat again, and we already know how to fix that. Besides, if they're Tru's curses, then she should know how to break them, right?"
Trill nodded slowly. "Yeah, I guess you're right." He grinned. "And while the curse itself was a pain, but the breaking of it wasn't that bad..."
Rudan laughed. "Wasn't that bad? Obviously you need a refresher then, if all I get is 'wasn't that bad'." He snagged one of Trill's wrists and yanked the faerie into his lap, proving without a doubt that the traditional method of curse-breaking was quite enjoyable indeed.
