Drabble: Return To Darkness
This? This is... probably AU, but I haven't entirely decided yet. I just had to write it and get it out of my system. Now with any luck he'll shut up and let me write what I'm supposed to be working on. :P
Shai dunked the shirt again, rubbing it against the washboard a few times before holding it up to inspect it. Not too bad, really, just a few stubborn spots that hadn't come out with the last washing either. He could live with those; it was just his shirt. If it had been Miss Charity's, that would have been another matter, but a few spots wouldn't do him any harm.
Next were his grey trousers, which were spot free but there was a thin area that would probably need patching soon. He fingered it idly, calculating how much material he was going to need, when suddenly the whole world shifted.
What was that?
Shai stood, the washing falling forgotten at his feet. There was very little that could cause a ripple in reality like that. All of the possibilities involved a part of his life that he'd set aside long ago. He should just leave it be...
"Demon!"
Looking up, Shai noticed old Mrs. Monagan staring at him with wide eyes. Why was she... oh.
It had been so long since he'd stood in his True Form that he hadn't even noticed he'd adopted it upon sensing the power ripple. Gone was Shai the mortal man, and in his place stood Shaial, Lord of Darkness.
He gathered his power to him, freeing it from the depths in which it had been hidden for so many centuries. It felt good. Right. Him.
The darkness came at his call, wrapping about him like an old friend. He fashioned it into wings, choosing to make his exit in dramatic fashion rather than simply relocate. After all, it was the first emergence of the demon Shaial into this era, so should it not be memorable?
Especially as it was likely to be his last moment in this role for another millennia. Shaial was not needed here. He had made certain of that long ago. But perhaps he would see if the world was once more amenable to Yetual.
Perhaps it was time for the Night Wind to fly again.

OH GOD, AND THIS WAS ONLY A PARAGRAPH.
<>The thesis...It is getting to me. I will be fantasising about Shaial as I proofread it, and have a few words about a demon of darkness somewhere in there.

Pick One...
1: I have been an idiot and managed to skip one of your stories, or 2: You have a story you are working on or are about to post that you have been keeping secret... *shifty eyes* ¬_¬
Either way, I like it. I have a certain addiction to stories with demons/fairies/dragons in them. Sounds great!
Keep On Writing!

*cough cough* ... Anyway, yes, it makes complete sense and leads to this statement:
Where's the rest of it?
*snicker - bribes Tygati's muses*

Well, I have to figure out if Shaial is Canon or AU before I write anything more. He kind of makes a mess out of things, but at the same time he makes sense, so... >.> Yeah. ^^;

Apologies for talking to myself. I've actually been talking to myself about this issue for days now. ^^;;;

Shaial and his story sound intriguing, though. *glomps*

More please? I like that Shaial is obviously trying very hard to fit in and not be noticed, and I'm dead curious as to what would make him lose his disguise and force him into his True Form.
I also think that Mrs. Monagan is worried about the wrong thing if she's worried about the Sudden Demon instead of the what that caused the Sudden Demon. ^_^;;
Also? WINGS!! ^__________^ <333

...And I swear, I'll be a nice little kitty and go comment on the rest of the Darkness saga. But I'm not promising when. Soon ^-^
