Rednecks and sparkles should not mix.

Today was both a stressful and a stress-relieving day. It's a Friday, which means we bust butt to get everything perfect for the Saturday morning inspection, and my bulb stocker called in sick. (Well, called in family emergency - funeral, but still, not here) So that set us back. Then, like two weeks ago I'd left a note for our acting store manager, who is actually our corporate CEO, saying I wanted to talk to him about some stuff. Naturally, he decides Friday is a good day for it. But it's stuff I really needed to get dealt with, so off I go.

For an hour. @_@

But it was a very enlightening conversation, and while he's still intimidating, he's not nearly as intimidating. Also, while he said he'd need a week-ish to straighten things out, he got one of my problems fixed in about an hour. ^^;

So, while this Friday may not be as polished as I'd prefer, I got things set in motion to make future Fridays a lot less stressful.

Sort of. I mean, there's a little bit of Ack! moment when the CEO of your company looks at you somewhat quizzically and asks why you've not put in for management yet. x_@;;
I'm happy being a Beta. I like being able to organize stuff, figure out the most efficient way to do things, and leave the really unpleasant stuff to someone else. ^^; And my current managers have figured out how I work best (ie, leave me alone to my anal-retentive organizing and I'll come get you if I have a problem) so as long as I can get the things solved that I personally can't fix, I'm happy being where I am.

Though I wouldn't mind learning more departments. Lighting is boring, I know it so well. Paint is more interesting, though I've got the basics down for most of it already. I'd like to be able to learn the whole store, because I know how frustrating it is to need assistance in a department and not have anyone to call who knows enough about the department to actually help you.

I need to go to bed now. I have to be up early tomorrow for the Saturday inspection, and that most likely means another (hopefully shorter) conversation with the CEO. @_@
