So, I've been kinda iffy the last few days, and at some point I embarked upon a movie marathon. Unintentionally. I started by randomly popping in
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Kinda silly movie, but man, Nemo's boat is Yum. So I idly searched the 'net for Nemo slash... yeah, no luck there. Instead I threw in my special edition copy of
The Abyss. *_* Man I love that movie. Seriously. And not just for the tech, though I will admit that the tech is a big part of my love for it.
Then... I made a mistake. x.x I decided I wanted to see where Nemo came from, and I never have been able to wade through the book. Discovered that there was a 2007 interpretation and ended up watching that first. x.x Shoot me.
30000 Leagues Under The Sea sucked donkey balls. The husband/wife fight-and-get-back-together thing sounded like a lousy rip-off of
The Abyss, and Nemo's ship was nowhere near as classy and elegant as it's supposed to be, and Nemo himself was a bad B grade villain rather than the sophisticated, exiled genius that Jules Verne wrote. -__- AND, there is no freaking reason to call it '30000 leagues' because they go down all of like two miles and don't travel horizontally
anywhere which means that the title is a complete misnomer. Blah. Oh, also, plot holes up the wazoo. Skip this movie at all costs.
So, after that fiasco, it was time to watch Disney's 1950s version of
20000 Leagues Under The Sea. Much better than the 2007 remake crap, that's for sure, though the effects are seriously dated and I wound up getting bored and wandering off about halfway through. *shrug*
But I was still in the mood for some underwater adventuring, so a couple episodes of
SeaQuest DSV it was. ^^ First season, that is, when it was still good and not trying to compete with Star Trek. x.x That's some yummy geekery right there, yes. And as usual, when I got to the Hydrothermal Vent episode, it was off to Wikipedia to read up on all the yummy yummy science that's ever expanding the more times they send Alvin down. *__* Guh.
And after all of that, I'm
still in the mood for some Nemo-esque slash. So, me being me, I
whined mentioned it to
maderr. Who questioned, pondered, and handed me back the framework for Shiny Story Idea. >.> I was doing such a good job of resisting until that... *__* Shiiiiiny...
So y'know, there may be a possibility of undersea slash at some point. Not anytime soon (there are Details to be worked out and all) but the Idea has been planted and I have such a serious weakness for the sea...
*goes off to continue reading up on oceanic trenches and downwelling*
