*happy sigh* I really didn't see any of that coming, but in retrospect it's amazing how it all ties up into a neat little plot. Wonderful solution to the problem of Jei's criminal tendencies - the concept of 'matching' is growing on... even though I'm still unable to locate maderr's 'DragonMatch', which keeps being mentioned by luckier people as the start of all that. *rolls eyes*
I think my favorite part of this story was actually the emotional growth. I liked that Ek's history was only an issue to him, I loved Tau and the crew's own strange ways of showing affection, and Jei's stumbling explanations just... gah. Ripped out my heart and had me grinning like an idiot. ^_^
