Update
It's been a long week. I'm tired, and slightly cranky. I'm blaming the weather, because it's currently 40 degrees and we're not supposed to break out of the 50s all week long. *grump grump*
I want to go up to Salem to visit Ulta and see Talya, but I'm not going anywhere that doesn't have adequate heating until the weather warms up. Likewise, I want to go see Gnome again up in Albany, but seeing Gnome requires giving her warning so she can tidy up a bit and she's 72ish and the weather is as hard on her as it is on me, albeit for different reasons.
So, I'm grumpy, because I want to visit and I can't because my stupid body takes any change in temperature as an attack upon itself and goes into shutdown mode. >_< I had to go to a company meeting last night and wore my medium jacket instead of my heavy down jacket and I had to sit in the car with the heater cranked for a couple of minutes before my muscles unlocked enough for me to drive home again. *siiigh*
Most days I can put up with the Raynaud's. Dress warmly, regardless of the funny looks you get from people. Wear gloves, indoors. Pay the extorbant electric bill, despite roomie's grumping. But just once I would like to feel like a normal person and not a freak of nature. :/ If I go from a warm indoor setting to a cooler outdoor setting, I may set it off. That happened earlier in the week, and the difference was maybe 10-15 degrees tops. Right now, it's 68 indoors and I won't turn the heater off until it hits 72 or else I can't type due to the stiffness in my hands. I keep having to stop and stick them under my arms to warm them up enough to continue.
Blah. Sorry for the rant. x_x
Happier news, let's see. Nail polish!

The first part of the week was NailNation 3000's #11 Max-A-Million, with a light coat of Nicole by OPI's Heavenly Angel to accent. Now, I learned something very important this week. Holographic nail polishes like Max-A-Million require a mono-directional light source to properly illuminate, preferably sunlight. Thus, the dull grey omni-directional spring skies we currently sport, or the all-encompassing fluorescent warehouse lighting at work make this kind of nail polish look like nothing more than a vaguely shimmery grey. So, they're better left for the summer months.
I chipped the trying-but-failing holo on Friday night and had to whip up a replacement before I opened on Saturday morning.

This is what I refer to as "accidental strawberries." :3 I wanted to try out a new Zoya I got (ZP622 Kimber) which looked way more pinkish in the bottle than the near-red it wound up being on my nails. So then I slapped a sponge coat of Finger Paints 806520 Art Hue Feeling Young at the base for accent, and Zoya Gilda to try to pink it up, before giving up and deciding the dark-pink teal-green combo looked so much like strawberry colors that I just kind of went "oh well" and added little black dots for seeds. :3 Then I went and mucked it all up by adding a layer of Girly Bits Hocus Pocus overtop of it because I hadn't yet learned my lesson regarding holographics yet. Indoors, it's very dull, but if you get it out in bright sunlight (not fading sunlight like in my picture) then it lights up rather prettily.
So, yeah, lesson learned, no more holographics until like June. But hopefully earlier, because I would really like summer now, plz.
Oh, and then there's Dez.

She picked my new A England Saint George, which I saw on
fyredancer and had to have, and then I added little beads of Zoya Goldie to give it a bit of an accent.
Sadly, she chipped it really badly right off the bat, so now I'm on a quest to find a non-toxic base coat that will hold up to her a little bit better. Preliminary research seems to point toward Revlon Colorstay as a possibility, so that's probably what I'll try first. Barring that, other recommendations I found were Butter London Nail Foundation Flawless Base Coat and ORLY Bonder. The ORLY I can pick up at Sally's, most likely, but Butter London requires a downtown trip. x_x
For those like me with sensitivities, scented nail polish is an absolute no-go. I picked up a Ludurana holo with my Llarowe order because it was such a pretty lavender color, but I absolutely couldn't stand the awful smell. I gave it to a co-worker who loves it. :3
Oh, and here's a silly picture. ^_^

Tiny Kaith and Tiny Kiyam with my oldest Barbie doll, whom I have been informed is "Fashion Queen Barbie" from the early 1960s. She was my mother's, and then mine, and the poor girl is in desperate need of a cleaning but still in pretty good condition all things considered. :) She comes with three wigs of different colors to change her look, and I still have them all, in somewhat questionable condition. ^^; Heh.
Her outfit is also 1960s, but apparently not her original. I also have an equally-ancient Ken doll, although this one isn't Ken-Ken, but Alan, a friend-doll of some sort. He has a Knight costume which is awesome, if in need of some slight repair.
Maybe I'll go see about giving them a bath while I'm waiting for Dez to come visit.
