Meeting New Friends

Today I got to meet Flamebyrd. ^____^ Semi-last-minute, because although she told me she'd be in the state, I totally forgot until she emailed me last night. So this morning I hauled my butt out of bed at an ungodly hour and made the drive to Portland.

Flamebyrd is adorable. So is her hubby, he of the awesome camera bits. *__* Also got to meet another Aussie, Velithya. That was fun. I could pretty much understand Flamebyrd, and while her hubby's accent was thicker it was still decipherable, but Velithya... well, pretty much every conversation went something like this:

V: sadf;lhs wetousklhjdb slthk a beouraslb.

Me: @_@ Uh, huh?

V: slkj asd er lkas beousl bin?

Me: @_____@ Um.

V: *ponders for a minute, then adopts an exaggerated US accent*

Me: OOooooh! That! ^^;;;

It was grand fun, even if highly embarrassing on my part. I remain convinced that Australian accents are the ultimate sexy, even when I can't understand a single word. <3

Also present were two locals, whose apartment the Australian trio were crashing at. Twin redheads! ^___^ Hee. One of them is Lazulisong, but I never saw the other one's name written out, and we've already established that I'm lousy with audible information. ^^; Lazulisong attempted (and succeeded) in traumatizing me with a cliffnotes retelling of a WTF-inducing Star Trek AU. x_@

After Flamebyrd and hubby took off back north to Canada, I decided to hop the state border and visit Rishi. Dollie hijinks ensued, and I cleaned, and there was a My Little Pony involved, and then we all watched Pretear. It was... interesting. Jury's still out.

And then I drove home. In two hours. From Camas Washington. >.> I have a lead foot. ^^;

Sounds like a fun day~

Hee hee, I used to talk to this Aussie guy on voice chat in jr/sr high school. His voice was hella sexy, not enough to make me straight mind you, but sexy~ His wasn't exceptionally thick, though, so easy to understand :3

I have trouble with any sort of thick accent when it comes to anything remotely British [or Irish or Scottish for that matter], one of the reasons I couldn't get into Dr. Who when someone tried to show it to me once . . . . Actually I have trouble with accents in general, because I have attention span problems where I tend to space out in tiny little gaps, so if I have to listen to anything really closely to piece it together I'm screwed e_e;

[Semi randomly, If you're ever down in this neck of the woods, we should totally do dollie stuff. I bet it'd be lots of fun XD

(And this isn't entirely impossible, I figure, . . . since I'm not the only person you know in Southern Ohio.)]

>.< British is awful. I tried to watch an awesome British show but I had to give up because I was missing 50% of the dialogue.

*laugh* Some day I'll tour the eastern states. Some day...
