The term, "sonic screwdriver" was from the BBC show Dr. Who. Forget which incarnation but the ones with K9, the Doctor's robotic dog, in them. Maybe one of the characters watched some of the old shows and renamed one of Tau's toys,though it would be probably to Tau's annoyance.
